About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the portfolio management framework and governance model across the Monitoring & Testing function
  • Lead portfolio planning, scheduling and resource coordination across Monitoring & Testing coverage teams
  • Drive consistent governance standards, portfolio planning disciplines, risk assessment methodologies and reporting
  • Own the end-to-end issues management framework, including tracking, escalation, governance and timely action closure
  • Develop portfolio-wide conduct risk insights, management information, dashboards and executive reporting
  • Establish and manage the central repository for AI and data use cases
  • Promote governance, knowledge sharing and safe adoption of innovative technologies
  • Lead standardisation, automation and continuous improvement of portfolio management processes
  • Build relationships with senior stakeholders across Monitoring & Testing and the wider Risk & Compliance function
  • Provide strategic portfolio insights and recommendations to support informed decision making
  • Support governance, planning and operational effectiveness of the second line Compliance Monitoring function

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Significant experience in portfolio management, programme management, governance, business management or operational risk within Financial Services
  • Experience leading a central portfolio management, governance or business management function supporting multiple teams or workstreams within a complex organisation
  • Experience in strategic planning, portfolio governance, risk assessment coordination, issues management and executive reporting
  • Experience developing and implementing governance frameworks, operating models or portfolio management disciplines
  • Experience driving process improvement, standardisation and operational efficiency across complex portfolios, programmes or functions
  • Degree or equivalent professional experience
  • English language proficiency
  • Great understanding of portfolio governance, operational risk, planning and assurance methodologies
  • Great analytical capability, including interpreting complex data, identifying trends and developing management information
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • Great communication, influencing and presentation skills, including engaging senior executives and governance forums
  • Strategic thinking and ability to balance long-term objectives with operational delivery
  • Highly organised with planning, prioritisation and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative leadership style and passion for continuous improvement, innovation and simplifying ways of working
  • Candidates must be able to attend the office at least 12 days per month
