About the role

  • Manage and monitor large projects or accounting process implementations within the accounting function
  • Provide subject matter expertise to leaders and business lines by providing guidance, interpretation, and communicating impact to business lines/accounting team
  • Direct and guide accounting teams by reviewing financial information, reporting, and disclosures
  • Ensure compliance and regulatory standards are met within the department
  • Research and analyze new products, systems, and/or best practices within the accounting function and propose findings to Accounting Director
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining high accuracy
  • Monitor and communicate accounting developments to the organization's operations, financials, and regulatory reporting to management
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with all lines of businesses to facilitate and lead timely implementation and standardization of new accounting requirements
  • Collaborate with other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives
  • Advise senior management on best practices needed to meet defined goals and objectives
  • Manage projects and initiatives as requested by senior management
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Improve existing processes and practices within the Accounting department
  • Represent the organization as a primary resource and subject matter expert for specific accounting projects, initiatives, and updates
  • Coach, review, and delegate work to junior professionals as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree: Accounting or equivalent field - Required
  • Master's Degree: Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent field - Preferred
  • 5+ Years Experience: Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar field within the Banking or Financial Services Industry - Required
  • Demonstrated solid understanding of GAAP and financial regulatory reporting
  • Proven track record in process improvement initiatives within finance or accounting
  • Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros)
  • Strong PowerPoint skills
  • Keen interest in AI and automation tools
  • Excellent analytical problem solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lead, influence and direct peers, subordinates and management
  • Ability to make effective decisions on complex matters
  • Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups
  • Ability to interact with senior level management
  • Ability to maintain and report on confidential information appropriately
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and quick information analysis
  • Self-directed, self-motivated with demonstrated experience providing ideas and solutions

  • Certifications: CPA - Plus
  • Established work history or equivalent (work experience, training, military service, or education)
