About the role
- Maintain, optimise and structure the group-wide outwards reinsurance program
- Lead the annual treaty and facultative renewal cycle
- Assess and optimise the structure of proportional, non-proportional, and facultative covers
- Collate and review actuarial and exposure-modelling work
- Analyse portfolio performance and emerging risks
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global reinsurers
- Ensure end-to-end documentation, contract certainty, and timely execution of reinsurance placements
- Lead and mentor the reinsurance team
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 – 12 years of experience in reinsurance
- Demonstrated experience negotiating program placements
- Good understanding of the reinsurance marketplace in South Africa and globally
- Good relationships with both institutional brokers and global reinsurers
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science / risk management / insurance / finance or a related quantitative field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Open to both local and international travel
