About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support providers and ensure a positive patient experience
Room patients and record vital signs
Document medical history
Assist with examinations and procedures
Administer injections
Collect lab draws
Collect subjective and objective health status data and communicate it to healthcare providers
Contribute data to licensed healthcare professionals and follow patients' plans of care under provider direction
Communicate providers' written care instructions to patients or caregivers
Participate in preventative care, health maintenance, treatment, and follow-up across the lifespan
Perform duties under the direct supervision of a licensed medical professional
Observe and report patient signs or symptoms
Perform point-of-care testing

Requirements

What you’ll need

Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program
Nationally certified or registered as a Medical Assistant
Certification through an approved program such as AAMA, NHA, AMCA, or NCCT, or registration through AMT accepted
North Dakota registration as an MAIII through the ND Board of Nursing; candidates without it at hire have 4 months to obtain it
Registration on the ND Board of Nursing UAP Registry if MAIII registration is not held at hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment
Prior healthcare-setting experience preferred
Medication administration before obtaining MAIII registration must be supervised by a licensed nurse
