Key responsibilities & impact

Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
Review, interpret and dispense both prescription and non-prescription medication to patients.
Take an active role in responding to prescription issues and advising providers on medication selection, dosage, interaction and side effects.
Counsel patients on medication prescriptions including proper administration, possible side effects, expected response, storage and any other questions posed by the patient.
Monitor the health and progress of patients in response to drug therapy.
Provide oversight and clinical supervision for pharmacy services and pharmacy support personnel.
Involve in areas such as acute care surgery, neurology, pediatrics, oncology, and medication reconciliation.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
Must have a thorough knowledge of drugs and their actions; knowledge of state and local regulations.
Hospital experience or residency preferred.
License must be in good standing by the State Board of Pharmacy in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
