About the role
- Assists patients/residents/clients with therapy activities and exercises scheduled in a treatment plan, under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
- Provides, monitors and records therapy services to patients/residents/clients with physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial impairments.
- Selects, implements, and modifies therapeutic activities and interventions based on patient goals and competency levels.
- Contributes to the occupational therapy process by documenting patient responses and communications during interventions.
- Knowledgeable about targeted occupational therapy outcomes and documentation related to outcome achievement.
- Follows accepted clinical practice guidelines of professional organization.
- Performs other related duties as requested depending on location and facility needs.
Requirements
- Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
- Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state(s) of practice.
- When working at a Sanford Health Facility (not required but preferred for GSS Facilities): Must also be certified as an Occupational Therapy Assistant through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Conforms to the supervision and licensing standards of the state(s) where services are provided.
- When applicable, may require valid driver's license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment.
