About the role
- Serve as a subject matter expert supporting advisors on complex estate planning scenarios
- Participate in select client meetings to elevate advisor credibility and client experience
- Translate sophisticated planning strategies into clear, client-friendly narratives
- Enable advisors to differentiate their value proposition through advanced planning insights
- Provide second-opinion reviews and stress-testing of estate structures (e.g., trusts, GRATs, SLATs, IDGTs, family LLCs)
- Design customized frameworks for wealth transfer, asset protection, philanthropy, and multi-generational governance
- Align estate strategies with liquidity events, concentrated positions, business transitions, and private investments
- Collaborate with external attorneys, CPAs, trust companies, and fiduciary partners
- Review planning documents (non-legal) for strategic consistency and alignment
- Act as the central integrator across legal, tax, trust, and wealth management disciplines
- Partner cross-functionally with internal Solutions verticals (Trustee Services, Wealth Design, Tax & Accounting, Business Owner Solutions)
- Serve as escalation point for advanced planning inquiries and advisor requests
- Contribute to internal playbooks, advisor training, and thought leadership content
- Partner with Marketing to enhance advisor-facing education and positioning
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in advanced estate planning, wealth transfer strategy, or trust & estates
- JD or LLM in Taxation or similar advanced credential required
- Deep expertise in estate structures, wealth transfer vehicles, and UHNW client planning needs
- Demonstrated ability to partner with financial advisors in a non-competitive, advisory capacity
- Strong executive presence with the ability to build trust and credibility with advisors and clients
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts
- Proven ability to operate cross-functionally and influence without direct authority
- High level of discretion, judgment, and client-first mindset
- JD with estate planning specialization (preferred)
- CPA with estate and tax expertise (preferred)
- CPWA designation (preferred)
- Experience within a multifamily office, UHNW private bank, RIA, or trust company (preferred)
- Background in transitioning from technical (legal/tax) to strategic advisory role (preferred)
