About the role
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Oversee the general ledger, ensuring all accounts are accurately reconciled and financial transactions are recorded properly
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial results
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to support management in decision-making
- Review and analyze manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS) to ensure accuracy and identify areas for improvement
- Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Collaborate with internal departments, including operations, procurement, and sales, to gather necessary data for financial reporting
- Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for financial reports
- Monitor cash flow and ensure proper controls are in place for the company’s financial transactions
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and software to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Lead and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and work with management to implement best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent certification preferred)
- Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a senior or supervisory role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, and COGS analysis is highly preferred.
