About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Laravel (PHP) and Vue.js
- Contribute to software architecture decisions and long-term technical strategy
- Build and optimise distributed systems, queue-based architectures, and event-driven solutions
- Work with Kafka and asynchronous processing systems to improve platform scalability and reliability
- Improve system performance, stability, monitoring, and scalability across the platform
- Collaborate with DevOps Engineers, Senior Developers, and technical leadership on infrastructure and engineering initiatives
- Participate in hands-on development while supporting technical direction and engineering standards
- Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and provide mentorship to development teams
- Work within containerised and cloud-native environments using Docker and Kubernetes
- Support continuous improvement of engineering practices, development workflows, and technical scalability
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5-8+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong backend development experience with Laravel (PHP) or similar frameworks
- Strong experience with system architecture and scalable software design
- Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and queue-based processing
- Hands-on experience with Kafka and asynchronous messaging systems
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, ideally Vue.js
- Strong knowledge of MySQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is highly preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and ownership mindset
- Ability to work effectively within fast-paced technical environments
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills
- Passion for technology and continuous learning.
