About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensures success in the execution of all operation, maintenance, and modification of all critical environment building systems tasks assigned, including mechanical (HVAC, computer room air conditioners, chillers, and plumbing), electrical (UPS, DC battery systems, PDU, generators, transfer switches, and switchgear), cabling (data and voice, broadband), fire detection and suppression, life safety, lighting, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems (fire alarm, duress, card access, CCTV).
- Completes planned and ad-hoc preventive maintenance work assignments requiring the skill and direction of several engineering, mechanical, and maintenance trades.
- Ensures completion of periodic building systems inspections, i.e., HVAC, electrical distribution systems, and maintains mechanical equipment rooms to verify clean and safe conditions.
- Provides rapid response, investigation, and management of indoor emergency situations and air quality complaints.
- Creates, closes, and tracks "work requests" (WR).
- Initiates or responds to work orders, follows up, and verifies completion of work.
- Monitors performance and notes deficiencies of service contractors and recommends changes as necessary.
- Delivers data center services including colocation, telecommunications services, and deployment of additional services to customers and internal business systems.
- Acts as a focal point to data center customers, vendors, and carriers as it relates to colocation, connectivity, and network products and services.
- Supports internal networks, IT infrastructure, computers, electronics, and telephone systems.
- Performs activities inside IT and telecommunications rooms or cabinets such as the installation of IT and network hardware, making or running patch cables, and verifying or testing cable paths.
- Coordinates and oversees access to and work within the facility with third-party contractors, vendors, and carriers related to structured cabling installation, circuit delivery, and equipment installations in IT and telecommunications rooms and customer space.
- Provides support to offsite points-of-presence at remote locations and aids in operations, administration, and maintenance of infrastructure, network equipment, and tasks related to the delivery and support of network services.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Superior observation and problem-solving skills.
- Driver’s License
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks
- Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
- Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
- Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
- Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
- Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
- Possession of a valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required.
