About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensuring that all cooling, mechanical, and supporting infrastructure operates at peak efficiency to maintain strict thermal conditions for mission-critical IT equipment.
  • Conducting planned preventative maintenance
  • Performing daily corrective work
  • Troubleshooting in-row cooling systems
  • Responding to emergent environmental or mechanical issues
  • Interacting with Data Center Operators (DCOs), clients, and vendors while supporting a reliability standard exceeding 99.999% uptime
  • Traveling up to 50% for remote site projects
  • Performing L2 – L5 commissioning checklists as deliverables to the customer
  • Developing creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum
  • Testing performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic multimeters
  • Reading blueprints, schematics, diagrams or technical orders to determine methods and sequences of processes
  • Inspecting equipment for defects, leaks, and potential issues
  • Installing electrical/mechanical parts and hardware in housings/assemblies with hand tools
  • Aligning, fitting or assembling component parts using hand/power tools
  • Providing feedback on the effectiveness of existing standards and processes
  • Working with contractors and consultants to review quality assurance for all system expansions, corrections, and upgrades
  • Collaborating on tracking and completing aggressive preventive and predictive maintenance programs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma and minimum of 1 year HVAC or similar experience
  • Ability to understand diagrams and schematics for the mechanical and electrical functions of data center systems
  • Ability to process Hands/Eye requests as required (i.e. torque wrenches and hand tools, wiring terminal blocks, powered tools)
  • Mechanical aptitude for installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems
  • Ability to lift 50lbs or greater
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70 E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and building codes (preferred)
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot low voltage control wiring and wiring diagrams (preferred)
  • Current knowledge of industrial safety practices (preferred)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (preferred)
  • Microsoft 365 proficiency (preferred)
  • Basic customer service principles (preferred)
  • Job Hazard Assessment Mitigation Awareness (preferred)
  • Hand Protection, Hearing Protection, Head Protection, Eye Protection, Fall Protection/Ladder Safety, Electrical Safety (preferred)
