About the role

  • Define and drive a unified technical vision and long-term strategy for SCM and CI/CD across Slack
  • Architect and lead implementation of scalable, observable, resilient infrastructure across AWS and on-prem systems using IaC (Terraform, Chef, Ansible)
  • Harmonize technology and processes across Linux, macOS, and Windows CI fleets, establishing shared standards, tooling, and observability (KPIs)
  • Pioneer integration of AI/ML into CI/CD pipelines to automate workflows and enhance developer productivity
  • Act as technical leader and mentor across multiple teams, fostering innovation and collaboration
  • Lead complex cross-functional projects from conception to completion, aligning with company objectives
  • Improve and maintain existing services, balancing strategic work with operational excellence (KTLO)
  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure reliability and availability of developer-facing systems

Requirements

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in DevOps, Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering
  • Proven track record architecting and managing large-scale, mission-critical systems across Linux, macOS, and Windows
  • Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS
  • Strong command of Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Chef, or Ansible
  • Experience managing and scaling Source Control Management systems (e.g., GitHub Enterprise) preferred
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Go, Python, or Bash
  • Hands-on experience with modern CI/CD systems (Buildkite, GitHub Actions, CircleCI)
  • Forward-thinking mindset and interest in applying AI/ML to developer tooling and infrastructure
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills; ability to mentor engineers and drive consensus
  • Pragmatic problem-solving skills, ability to thrive in ambiguity and act with bias for action
