About the role

  • Solicit, capture, plan and coordinate small meetings (10 rooms or less), social and catering-only functions
  • Finalize catering-only business and maximize banquet space to meet/exceed revenue goals
  • Solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business via outside sales, telemarketing, mailings, networking
  • Execute a territorial marketing strategy to capture maximum revenue and meet sales goals
  • Plan, upsell and detail meetings/functions (space, times, equipment, menus, themes/decorations)
  • Complete contracts and prepare banquet event orders and appropriate paperwork
  • Coordinate with hotel departments and resolve issues, complaints, and problems to ensure quality delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Prepare status and period-end reports
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate and hotel procedures, products and competition
  • Provide professional communication with guests and associates and support Conference Services as needed

Requirements

  • More than two years of post -high school education
  • 1 to 2 years of employment in a related position
  • Thorough knowledge of catering, food and beverage, menu development and pricing
  • Knowledge of the hotel's policies and procedures
  • Ability to investigate and analyze activities and data and provide recommendations
  • Strong negotiation, selling, persuasion and communication skills
  • Ability to drive to outside sales calls
  • Excellent comprehension and literacy to develop marketing plans and create menus/programs
  • Excellent hearing, vision, and speech communication skills
  • Ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 50 lb occasionally
  • Ability to bend/kneel, stand continuously for 1–4 hours, climb up to 55 steps occasionally
  • Mobility to service clients on short notice
  • Driving for sales calls (~20% of time)
