About the role

  • Meet and exceed revenue goals by developing new accounts and growing current hotel accounts
  • Emphasis on SMERF market and targeting high revenue potential sales calls
  • Key account management to maximize current hotel key accounts and achieve productivity and activity goals
  • New account development through networking, research and competitor account capture
  • Acquire referrals and follow up on all leads within 48 hours; send leads to other Sage hotels when appropriate
  • Plan and implement ongoing Targeted Account Development "hit list" to create new revenue and contracts
  • Continually prospect for new business through telemarketing and other methods
  • Utilize yield management techniques to profitably negotiate room rates and function space commitments
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date file management and customer profiles with trace system
  • Develop strong customer relationships via frequent communication and professional interaction
  • Promptly follow up on customer needs and inquiries
  • Conduct research, surveys and market studies to capitalize on hotel strengths
  • Focus on revenue-producing activity and dedicate minimum 90% work time to direct sales
  • Control expenses while traveling and represent the hotel and Sage with integrity and professionalism
  • Exhibit positive team attitude, maintain open communication, and present a neat, business-like appearance at all times

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months minimum in sales, customer service related position or hotel experience preferred
  • Requires knowledge of general sales techniques
  • Requires yield management experience
  • Requires highly developed customer service skills
  • Requires ability to hear, speak, read and write English fluently
  • Requires 12th grade level mathematics, spelling and reading skills
  • Requires effective business writing skills
  • Must have own reliable transportation and a valid state driver’s license to make sales calls
  • Must be able to meet clients on and off premises, tour property and attend functions
  • Ability to climb stairs, use door keys and operate basic office equipment
  • Vision to read fine print and computer screens, to see colors, to observe rooms in poorly lit conditions
  • Understand and follow verbal/written instructions
  • Ability to work on more than one task at a time
  • Develop strong internal and customer relationships
  • Set and manage priorities and plan activities in advance
  • Solve problems and make sound business decisions
