About the role
- Supervise and coordinate the Accounting Operations in the hotel to ensure accurate, timely and consistent reporting
- Supervise Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cashier and Night Audit employees; hire, train, schedule, coach and conduct performance reviews
- Ensure daily accounting operations comply with SOPs and Federal, State and local laws and regulations
- Analyze and reconcile all general ledger accounts and bank statements
- Prepare financial statements and reports for management
- Assist in compilation and preparation of annual budget, forecasts, taxes and other financial reports
- Train, monitor and coordinate implementation and maintenance of financial and cash controls across departments
- Resolve problems and ensure maintenance of accounting systems and equipment
- Analyze tenants, leases and rent reports; ensure compliance with hotel leases and management contracts
- Assume responsibilities of the Director of Finance in his/her absence
Requirements
- A four-year college degree (accounting preferred) or equivalent education/experience
- One to two years of employment in hospitality management or hospitality accounting
- Knowledge of all functions performed by subordinate accounting staff
- Advanced knowledge of accounting, finance and hospitality professions
- Experiential knowledge for management of people and complex problems
- Ability to analyze activities or information involving original data manipulation or interpretation
- Ability to make decisions guided by established policies and procedures
- Supervisory skills, including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching and performance reviews
- Office Management
- Bank Reconciliations
- Preparation of State and Federal Reports
- Training of Accounting staff employees
- Conducting or participating in meetings
- Analysis of Balance Sheet Accounts
- Preparation of Journal entries, closing the books and preparing the Balance Sheet Package
- Interviewing and evaluation of applicants and current employees
- Excellent hearing, vision and speech communication skills required
- Ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 15-20 lbs; limited bending/kneeling; limited mobility between offices
