About the role
- Apply high quality, manufacturability methodology to the New Product Introduction process and the entire product life cycle
- Serve as the PPE technical lead, representing Operations with internal and external customers, Repairs, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Product Support and Suppliers
- Operate as a Product Owner for multiple products, providing leadership from product development to end of life
- Prepare and maintain Manufacturing, Production and Repair plans for new and existing products
- Develop technical expertise and regulatory/quality understanding of electronics and mechanical components and assemblies focused on repeatable, quality-driven production processes
- Develop manufacturing standards and work with cross functional teams to maintain or exceed those standards
- Drive continual improvements in Rolled Throughput Yield, safety, on-time delivery, efficiency and response time
- Reduce test escapes, defect PPM, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
- Troubleshoot electronic boards/assemblies and electromechanical components that fail functional tests
- Identify root cause and corrective action to contain, correct and prevent recurrence
- Advise Management on issues and provide recommended solutions
- Represent the company during onsite/offsite customer meetings and report outcomes to management
- Perform supplier and product audits as required and participate in customer, regulatory and on-site audits
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field or equivalent experience in a related field
- 6+ years of experience working in a similar role
- Prior experience in the manufacture of electronic and mechanical components, particularly for Aerospace application
- Working knowledge of and compliance with ISO9001, AS9001, EASA & FAA requirements
- Experience with utilizing and/or coordinating with domestic or overseas vendor services
- Working knowledge and use of Lean and JIT concepts (Kaizen, Kanban, Poke Yoke, Six Sigma, 8-D, DMAIC, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping (VSM))
- Proficient with Lean and JIT concepts, and able to implement them to increase productivity and remove waste
- CAD/CAM (Solidworks) experience
- Solid troubleshooting skills
- Statistical analysis capabilities
- Has led complex projects and programs with a cross functional team where influence leadership is key to success
- Strong ability to use Microsoft Office programs, Visio and Minitab
- Previous experience with MRP/ERP systems and PLM Systems
- Previous Experience of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), or the components of APQP (PFMEA, DFMEA, PPAP, SPC) highly desired
