About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work directly with the Finance Manager and General Manager to prepare operations analysis and reports.
  • Manage all aspects of the day-to-day accounting processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger.
  • Support the Business Plan Process and ensure tie in with the strategic direct and tie in to the annual budgets.
  • Enters and/or coordinates all accounting, payroll & information technology functions.
  • Daily reconciliation of cash and credit card transactions.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial forecasts for comparison to budget.
  • Oversee the monthly inventory process and performs in-depth cost of goods analysis.
  • Coordinate preparation of monthly financial statement.
  • Ensure a timely and accurate month-end closing process.
  • Analyze monthly balance sheet and P&L figures to prepare comments and identify performance trends.
  • Assist in the preparation of ad hoc financial analysis for senior management.
  • Assist Finance Manager and General Manager with analysis of information and prospective decisions based on information obtained from Accounting and operating results.
  • Assist in the design and development of internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Design and implement cost savings solutions.
  • Manage budget and control expenses effectively.
  • Participate in the planning and administration of the annual budget process including detailed review of departmental budget submissions.
  • Build solid working relationships with business and department leaders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience preferably in the education or hospitality industry
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office software required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail essential.
  • Must be highly analytical, have the ability to think creatively, and to understand complex business dynamics.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment.
