About the role
- SafeRide Health is transforming access to care for America’s most vulnerable populations and delivers technology-driven solutions for NEMT.
- As a Senior Software Engineer, AI, you will build AI-powered product experiences and platforms across the SafeRide ecosystem.
- Design, build, and own production services and user experiences for AI-enabled features (member chat/IVR, dispatch optimization, provider quality, fraud/waste/abuse detection, and internal tooling).
- Integrate and operate model-backed systems (LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, classification/ranking, speech/ASR) with robust evaluation and safe fallbacks.
- Develop secure, scalable APIs and event-driven microservices; contribute to system architecture including data contracts, observability, resiliency, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Implement high-quality front-end experiences (React/Next.js); collaborate with design on UX quality, accessibility, and performance.
- Write maintainable code with strong test coverage (unit, integration, e2e); participate in code/design reviews and improve engineering standards.
- Instrument features with telemetry, dashboards, and alerts; run experiments (A/B tests) and iterate based on data and feedback.
- Champion privacy, security, and compliance (including HIPAA/PHI handling); contribute to responsible AI best practices across the SDLC.
- Collaborate in an agile environment with PM, DS/ML, QA, and Ops; document decisions, create runbooks, and support on-call rotations.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building production web applications, platforms, or services.
- Strong proficiency in at least two of: TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Go, or Java; familiarity with modern front-end frameworks (React/Next.js).
- Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML into products (LLM APIs/SDKs, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings/vector databases, model evaluation/observability).
- Experience building and operating RESTful/GraphQL APIs, event-driven systems (queues/pub-sub/WebSockets), and microservices on a major cloud (AWS preferred).
- Solid data fundamentals: relational databases (Postgres/MySQL), caching, streaming, and data modeling.
- Operational excellence: CI/CD, containerization (Docker), infrastructure-as-code, logging/metrics/tracing, and on-call participation.
- Security-minded approach with knowledge of authentication/authorization, secrets management, and secure handling of PHI/PII in healthcare.
- Strong communication and ownership skills, with comfort collaborating cross-functionally.
