About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, test and maintain features across a modern enterprise web platform
Build secure backend services and web applications using C# and modern .NET
Develop and maintain REST APIs and integrations with third-party systems
Work with relational databases, data models and performance-sensitive queries
Contribute to responsive and user-friendly web interfaces
Own features from technical design through development, testing and release
Review requirements and identify technical risks, dependencies and edge cases
Participate in architecture discussions, technical planning and code reviews
Write clean, maintainable and appropriately tested code
Investigate defects, performance issues and production incidents
Estimate development effort and communicate progress, risks and blockers
Produce and maintain technical documentation
Contribute to engineering standards, secure development practices and delivery processes
Support and mentor less-experienced developers where appropriate
Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery, testing, documentation and technical analysis

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong commercial experience in most listed technologies and practices
C# and modern .NET
ASP.NET Core
RESTful API design and third-party integrations
PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or another enterprise relational database
Entity Framework Core or comparable ORM
HTML, CSS and JavaScript
Git-based source control
Unit, integration and automated testing
Object-oriented programming and software design principles
Dependency injection and separation of concerns
Authentication, authorisation and role-based access control
Secure web application development
Cloud-hosted applications
Docker or similar container technologies
Automated build, testing and deployment processes
Approximately five or more years of relevant commercial software development experience
Strong recent experience developing production software using C# and .NET
Experience delivering meaningful features from requirement through production
Experience working within a professional software development team
Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field is preferred
Equivalent practical experience and a strong technical track record may be considered in place of a formal qualification
Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools and independently reviewing, testing, and validating generated outputs
Practical understanding of secure authentication, session management, access control, secure API design, input validation, OWASP principles, logging, monitoring, audit trails, data protection, code quality, maintainability, and testability
Advantageous: AWS or another major cloud platform; React, Next.js or comparable frontend framework; multi-tenant SaaS; high-volume enterprise applications; workflow-driven systems; background processing; monitoring and performance optimisation; SSO and identity-provider integrations; reporting and analytics; AI-enabled features
