About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Operate a customer service window and provide exceptional customer service for banking transactions
  • Provide technical direction and training for other customer service representatives
  • Suggest solutions and options and refer customers to appropriate areas of the bank
  • Resolve customer problems, issues, and concerns accurately and efficiently
  • Establish accuracy and balancing skills while maintaining an 85% balancing rate
  • Use bank computer systems and S&T policies and procedures to operate the customer service window
  • Identify customers, verify transaction authenticity, and complete fraud-protection steps
  • Cash checks, process deposits and withdrawals, and accept loan and other payments
  • Provide bank money orders, night deposits, mail deposits, safe deposit admittance, and other customer services
  • Balance the cash window, ATM settlements, and vault daily
  • Support branch leadership and contribute to branch sales, service, and operational goals
  • Identify customer needs, promote bank services, and refer customers to specialized products and services
  • Develop new customers to increase market share and profitability
  • Perform monthly reports, reconcilements, logs, and compliance activities
  • Maintain relationships with employees in other departments
  • Attend and successfully complete required training
  • Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized training or a two-year degree
  • Two to five years of general and specialized experience
  • Knowledge of preparing balance reports
  • Successful completion of the retail training program
  • Ability to maintain a balancing rate of 85% in accordance with retail policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of bank computer systems, S&T policies, and procedures
  • Ability to identify customers, verify transaction authenticity, and follow fraud-prevention procedures
  • Ability to process checks, deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and other payments
  • Ability to complete ATM, vault, and cash-window balancing and settlements
  • Knowledge of consumer bank customer service standards
  • Ability to use sales and service opportunity tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Ability to operate keypad, electronic, and office equipment
  • Ability to perform typing and data entry using manual dexterity
  • Ability to meet specified standing, sitting, lifting, vision, and physical requirements
