About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Managing and motivating the Americas team covering environmental markets.
- Writing about pricing information and interpreting data.
- Developing and protecting Platts price assessments.
- Supporting, mentoring, and developing the reporting team.
- Representing Platts externally in explaining price assessment methodology and delivering insights through relevant pricing content and thought leadership including podcasts, analysis, features, and special reports.
- Working closely with colleagues in their own team and those in other regions to identify opportunities for developing and refining Platts carbon suite.
- Managing a team of price reporters across the Americas.
- Contributing on coverage on an as-needed basis.
- Conducting managerial performance reviews and fostering collaboration.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge of the Platts approach to pricing commodities
- Demonstrate ability to motivate and lead people and manage processes in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership ability that utilizes influence and promotes team collaboration and development, as well as personal accountability
- Accuracy under time pressure, by ensuring accurate assessments are delivered to the market consistently
- Ability to react quickly to changing market conditions
- Proven real-time news abilities with clean and concise English writing style and strong editing skills.
- Superior communication skills with the ability to converse articulately across a wide range of groups and personalities, internally and externally
- Strong public speaking / presentational skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proven analytical ability and comfortable handling numbers
- Excellent at identifying improvements and efficiencies and implementing processes that continually promote productivity and quality improvements.
- Ability to identify talent and nurture development within and across teams.
- Prior experience covering international financial and commodities markets in a price reporting or analytical role, including an interest in environmental markets (preferred)
- Prior management experience, having led a team of market reporters or analysts (preferred)
- Demonstrate ability to create relevant pricing content and drive news and thought leadership in the team including podcasts, analysis, features (preferred)
- Degree in Journalism, Business or Finance (preferred)
- Project management experience (preferred)
