About the role
- Serve as escalation point and SME for complex payroll and tax issues, including amendments and tax discrepancies.
- Lead the month, quarter, and year-end payroll tax process.
- Run payroll tax integrations, research, correct discrepancies, and prepare reconciliations.
- Responsible for ensuring the execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual workers’ comp audit and tax incentive requests.
- Pre-payments/reversals, running integrations, researching, and correcting tax variances.
- Create and maintain complex Workday and payroll system reports.
- Maintain, test, and implement payroll tax updates, functionality, and process improvements.
- Research regulatory changes and assess the impact on payroll systems and processes.
- Lead and support payroll projects, system testing, and issue resolution across teams.
- Mentor and guide payroll team members; support management with departmental goals, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience processing high-volume, multi-state payroll and managing payroll tax for mid- to large-size companies.
- Hands-on and intense knowledge/experience with ADP Smart Compliance, Workday, and Payworks.
- Experience of federal and state regulations related to salaries, wages, taxes, benefits, and other payroll-related matters required.
- Consistently achieves goals by prioritizing work and resources appropriately.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word)
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work collaboratively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage complex, large-volume data.
- Knowledge of payroll accounting and tax reconciliation.
