About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a pre-sales technical resource for the regional sales team and respond to technical inquiries
- Partner with the regional sales team to understand customer challenges and support opportunity conversion
- Recommend and advise on sales opportunities using S&C's standard product range
- Match products and solutions to customer specifications and identify exceptions, clarifications, and deviations for RFIs and RFQs
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering, and other departments on customer queries
- Attend customer meetings as a technical resource and create and present technical presentations
- Prepare proposals and technical information for tender submissions
- Guide product trials, track trial data, and present results to customers
- Support new product introduction and rollout plans within the region
- Provide technical support to Power System Solutions for installation and commissioning planning
- Represent S&C at industry events and support promotional activities
- Conduct factory tours and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing
- Deliver product overview and application pitches to customers and internal stakeholders
- Conduct and report customer and market analysis and submit product development ideas
- Entertain customers as appropriate to establish relationships
- Travel regularly, flying and driving up to 80%, for sales, customer engagement, and industry events
- Comply with applicable company policies and rules
Requirements
What you’ll need- Valid driver's license in good standing and clean driving record
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical degree
- Typically five years of experience in the electrical power industry or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems
- Demonstrated success in sales and application within the electrical power systems industry
- Knowledge of medium voltage products
- Familiarity with industry-recognized electrical codes and standards
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring schematics, and specifications
- Business acumen and analytical skills to translate technical information into solutions, insights, and proposals
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to present to varied audiences, from face-to-face interactions to conferences
- Interpersonal skills to establish customer and collaborative relationships
- Organizational, planning, and project management skills
- Industry knowledge of market trends and competitive landscape
- Ability to travel as required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in applicable states of the assigned region (preferred)
- CRM systems experience, with Salesforce desirable (preferred)
- Computer skills including Oracle and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) (preferred)
