About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own day-to-day bookkeeping and maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records.
  • Support month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and review of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Manage accounts payable, including reviewing, coding, and processing vendor invoices and ensuring timely, accurate payments.
  • Support accounts receivable activities, including recording incoming payments, monitoring outstanding balances, and reconciling cash receipts.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, merchant accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Record and maintain accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, depreciation, and adjusting or reclassification entries.
  • Maintain cash tracking and ensure cash activity is reflected in the general ledger.
  • Manage employee expense reports and reimbursements.
  • Review transactions for proper general ledger and departmental coding and correct discrepancies.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for accounting transactions and financial records.
  • Assist with payroll-related accounting entries and reconciliations.
  • Support sales tax filings, reconciliations, and compliance-related accounting activities.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external accountants, auditors, and tax providers.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and communicate issues to stakeholders.
  • Improve bookkeeping, accounting processes, controls, and documentation.
  • Partner with the Finance team on ad hoc accounting projects and operational needs.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of professional accounting and/or bookkeeping experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and the general ledger
  • Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
  • Experience with accounting or ERP systems
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage recurring responsibilities and multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks from start to finish
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and follow through until resolved
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
