About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the Retail, Technology and Healthcare operations team to top-tier supply chain performance
  • Establish Ryder as one of the top-performing supply chain organizations in the industry
  • Lead logistics strategy, distribution operations, transportation planning, and customer interaction
  • Lead teams to deliver high service levels, low costs, and value-added customer services
  • Provide leadership for warehousing and transportation strategy, organizational structure, design, and long-term vision
  • Report performance against key service metrics internally and externally
  • Direct and lead locations
  • Create efficiencies and leverage distribution and transportation costs
  • Manage distribution operations and maximize available resources
  • Deliver against financial targets and budgets
  • Plan, build, maintain, and improve distribution tools, facilities, processes, equipment, and systems
  • Develop and execute inventory management strategies to reduce costs
  • Interface with customers regarding supply chain strategy and working partnerships
  • Establish performance metrics, resolve problems proactively, introduce best practices, and foster positive change
  • Confront complex operational issues, determine solutions, and motivate staff to implement changes
  • Manage performance, engagement, and career development of direct staff
  • Work with senior leaders to align employee activities with company policies and total rewards objectives
  • Evaluate tradeoffs involving automation investments, locations, inventory management, and delivery speed and cost
  • Travel approximately 50%

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, operations management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience at a large consumer, distribution, 3PL, or retail company in supply chain leadership roles
  • Experience focusing on distribution and logistics
  • Ability to operate strategically while implementing plans and leading individuals through planning and implementation
  • Goal-oriented approach and perseverance to achieve positive results
  • Ability to motivate and retain well-qualified individuals with diverse talents, interests, and cultural backgrounds
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and trust-building skills
  • Ability to prioritize, follow through, achieve results, and meet deadlines
  • Sense of urgency and high decisiveness
  • High personal initiative; self-driven and action-oriented
  • Exceptionally strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate concepts effectively at all levels
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships
  • Estimated travel of 50%
