About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee a team of Senior Consultants/Consultants to deliver property tax consulting services for assigned clients
Maintain existing client relationships and focus on property tax management and minimization opportunities
Review and evaluate appeal positions, make appeal recommendations and manage the appeal process for Ryan clients
Enforce policies, standards and guidelines, research tax issues, review valuations of real property, negotiate assessment reduction and settlements
Prepare and present assessment appeals and supporting litigation
Create positive team member experiences, leading to excellent client service and driving revenue and profit for the Firm
Respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities
Manage and monitor all aspects of the annual property tax cycle for assigned property portfolios
Demonstrate extensive knowledge in assessment review and valuation techniques
Prepare and conduct client presentations
Attend hearings, settlement conferences, and negotiations, through settlement
Serve as jurisdictional subject matter expert in managing all aspects of the appeal process (informal, formal, and litigation)
Review and manage client contract terms, scope of services and fees
Oversee client billing and ensure timely collection of receivables (less than 90 days)
Ensure team compliance with Firm policies, practice guidelines, and standards.
Give timely performance feedback to team members and address and escalate performance issues
Ensure workload is properly distributed among team members and hold team members accountable for completion of assigned projects
Communicate new issues, legislative changes, training opportunities, and client needs and strategies
Participate actively in professional organizations.

Requirements

What you’ll need

University Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Real Estate, Business Management or other degree with MBA, MST or JD required
At least four years property tax related experience required
Candidates with appropriate valuation designations preferred
Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
Valid driver’s license required
Manager should maintain professional designations such as Certified Member of the Institute (CMI), and Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), or equivalent, and keep active in professional organizations on a local and national level.
