About the role

  • Ramp up quickly with existing codebases.
  • Research and propose improvements to UI processes and pipelines.
  • Develop best practices for the team for performant use of UMG and Slate.
  • Profile the game’s UI in Unreal Engine and prioritize resulting performance fixes.
  • Support in-game features that integrate with online SDKs with an eye toward both performance and usability.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to transform wireframes and interfaces into functional in-game elements.
  • Optimize and profile UI performance to ensure a smooth player experience.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of professional experience with C++ and Unreal Engine, including the Unreal Motion Graphics (UMG) UI Designer and Slate UI Framework.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing user interfaces for PC or console games.
  • Experience with memory management tooling and profiling.
  • Deep understanding of UI design principles and usability.
  • Keen eye for detail.
  • Willingness to selflessly put player experiences first — before even your own code and ego.
  • Proactive approach to communication, particularly when it comes to unblocking yourself and navigating obstacles as part of a team.
