About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop complex FPGA designs
  • Define and capture requirements for new firmware designs using enterprise tools such as Jama
  • Create conceptual designs including block-level architecture, clock and reset distribution strategies, and bandwidth/latency analyses
  • Create detailed FPGA firmware designs at the register-transfer level with VHDL
  • Perform RTL synthesis and implementation using FPGA tools such as Vivado
  • Support board-level integration of FPGA firmware
  • Create FPGA development verification artifacts using VHDL, SystemVerilog, and UVM
  • Present FPGA firmware designs to certification authorities
  • Oversee efforts and train less experienced designers
  • Contribute from initial requirements definition through final product certification
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and professionals developing camera systems, heads-up displays, and helmet-mounted displays for commercial and military aircraft
  • Develop project management skills through project planning, schedule preparation, and status reporting

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Advanced FPGA development and verification experience
  • FPGA design for video or image processing
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics Questasim
  • Proficiency in VHDL
  • SystemVerilog and UVM experience for FPGA verification
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix
  • Excellent hands-on laboratory skills in testing and verifying FPGA designs in hardware
  • Familiarity with a wide range of test equipment
  • Aerospace background
  • Experience with aerospace certification of designs, including familiarity with RTCA DO-254, is highly desired
