About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build next-generation machine learning models for new FlightAware Foresight products
  • Improve existing machine learning models
  • Develop state-of-the-art machine learning systems using historical aviation data and hundreds of millions of examples
  • Build models for runway landing times, gate arrival times, taxi durations, and other aviation predictions
  • Create predictive aviation data that powers the FlightAware Foresight product suite
  • Bring ideas to the team and contribute beyond execution
  • Solve open-ended machine learning and performance problems involving large datasets
  • Improve operational efficiency for airlines and airports worldwide
  • Collaborate within an agile development style

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company immigration sponsorship now or in the future
  • Strong knowledge of Python
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks: TensorFlow/Keras or PyTorch
  • Experience with complex data types, including time series, image, and video
  • Ability to work within an agile development style
  • Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, and GPU acceleration preferred
  • Experience with graph neural networks preferred
  • Experience with weather or other geospatial datasets preferred
  • Experience with observability stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Thanos preferred
  • Familiarity with Dagster, Airflow, or other modern ETL orchestration tools preferred
  • Familiarity with Iceberg, Spark, Elasticsearch, and other large-scale data processing systems preferred
  • Experience working in hybrid infrastructure environments, including cloud and on-premises Kubernetes, preferred
