About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and execute the Resilient Navigation technology roadmap within the Advanced CNS Sandbox
  • Address core navigation technologies including GNSS, inertial, vision, DME, and advanced antennas
  • Develop capability-oriented views of aircraft-level navigation system architecture
  • Provide domain expertise to navigation system technologists
  • Develop and demonstrate novel navigation capabilities from laboratory characterization through flight-test campaigns
  • Partner with Avionics product lines on product and business strategy
  • Support technology maturation and solve difficult technical problems
  • Engage international standardization and regulatory organizations on next-generation standards and operational concepts
  • Monitor emerging technologies and experimentally characterize potential operational benefits
  • Contribute to technical strategy and business development across multidisciplinary and international teams
  • Guide technical staff development and uphold performance and integrity standards
  • Plan proactively for evolving team and customer needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University degree and minimum 14 years of prior relevant experience, or advanced degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience
  • Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status
  • Proven industry recognition in aircraft navigation technologies
  • Contributions spanning concept definition, system demonstration, and fielded deployment
  • Technical proficiency in navigation systems
  • Experience with modeling and simulation
  • Experience with algorithm development and implementation
  • Experience with resilience and safety methodologies
  • Experience with system-level architecture and design
  • Ability to evaluate conventional technical approaches and develop innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to advance concepts within commercial aviation safety, regulatory, and certification frameworks
  • Ability to organize work, communicate across technical and business audiences, and collaborate with global cross-functional teams
  • Advanced degree in a related engineering field preferred
  • Ability to partner with universities, government agencies, national labs, and professional organizations within time and budget constraints
