About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define and execute the Resilient Navigation technology roadmap within the Advanced CNS Sandbox
Address core navigation technologies including GNSS, inertial, vision, DME, and advanced antennas
Develop capability-oriented views of aircraft-level navigation system architecture
Provide domain expertise to navigation system technologists
Develop and demonstrate novel navigation capabilities from laboratory characterization through flight-test campaigns
Partner with Avionics product lines on product and business strategy
Support technology maturation and solve difficult technical problems
Engage international standardization and regulatory organizations on next-generation standards and operational concepts
Monitor emerging technologies and experimentally characterize potential operational benefits
Contribute to technical strategy and business development across multidisciplinary and international teams
Guide technical staff development and uphold performance and integrity standards
Plan proactively for evolving team and customer needs

Requirements

What you’ll need

University degree and minimum 14 years of prior relevant experience, or advanced degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience
Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status
Proven industry recognition in aircraft navigation technologies
Contributions spanning concept definition, system demonstration, and fielded deployment
Technical proficiency in navigation systems
Experience with modeling and simulation
Experience with algorithm development and implementation
Experience with resilience and safety methodologies
Experience with system-level architecture and design
Ability to evaluate conventional technical approaches and develop innovative solutions to complex problems
Ability to advance concepts within commercial aviation safety, regulatory, and certification frameworks
Ability to organize work, communicate across technical and business audiences, and collaborate with global cross-functional teams
Advanced degree in a related engineering field preferred
Ability to partner with universities, government agencies, national labs, and professional organizations within time and budget constraints
