About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyzing and optimizing innovative development and production solutions for advanced aircraft engines.
- Collaborating across design, project, process, product definition, maintenance, overhaul, and repair engineering disciplines.
- Performing structural analysis of both Externals and Mechanical systems hardware through design, validation, certification, and support of manufacturing and operational service.
- Collaborating as the structures subject-matter expert on integrated product teams providing design solutions that consider durability, performance, cost, and weight.
- Conducting validation tests consisting of live monitoring of instrumentation response and evaluation of test data against program requirements.
- Utilizing Finite Element Analysis and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
- Documenting analysis results and presenting conclusions to leaders and customers.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
- 8 years of engineering experience, or an Advanced degree with 5 years of experience.
- Structural engineering background with proficiency in Finite Element Analysis, ANSYS, Workbench, and classical analytical methods.
- Experience with application of mechanical statics, strength of materials, and machine design theories.
- Experience with Aerospace structures and/or components.
- Experience with ANSYS Workbench or equivalent software.
- Working knowledge of NX or equivalent modeling software.
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience with Teamcenter and writing engineering reports.
- English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English.
