About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise on CAS applicability, disclosure statements, cost impacts, cost allowability, cost accounting practices, and compliance with DCAA/DCMA oversight.
- Counsel internal stakeholders on FAR and DFARS requirements related to cost principles, pricing, and accounting treatment.
- Support the development, update, and implementation of internal policies and controls to mitigate accounting and pricing compliance risks.
- Lead or support internal reviews, compliance assessments, audits, and responses to government inquiries.
- Partner with Finance, Accounting, Compliance, and Contracts teams to ensure consistent application of federal cost accounting rules across business units and entities.
- Provide legal guidance on all aspects of TINA, including cost or pricing data requirements, defective pricing risks, and negotiation strategy.
- Monitor regulatory developments and interpret changes affecting government accounting practices and compliance obligations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements, pricing narratives, and representations related to cost and accounting issues.
- Provide training and guidance to cross-functional teams on CAS, TINA and related cost/pricing requirements.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
- Minimum 10 years of experience advising on federal government contract compliance requirements, including specifically CAS and TINA.
- Strong understanding of FAR, DFARS, DCAA/DCMA processes, cost principles, indirect rate structures, and EVMS related cost considerations.
- Demonstrated experience supporting internal compliance programs and advising on inter-entity or shared services cost allocation issues.
