About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design of RF microwave components and phased array applications
- Develop insights that extend your knowledge in the RF/Microwave field and form the basis of new concepts, theories, and products.
- Design and/or test MMIC or module products and test fixtures at RF/microwave frequencies
- Integration and test of component level and system level phased array hardware
- Some travel to integration sites, plus customer and subcontractor facilities, may be required.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
- Experience in Microwave/RF system, subsystem and component analysis, design and test.
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST, Genesys and Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition Cadence Virtuso, and analytical tools such as Matlab.
- Experience performing basic RF calculations and Cascaded Analysis.
- Background designing and testing analog CCAs, including frequency conversion, automatic gain control, amplifier design and analog filter design.
- Experience in electrical interconnects and transmission line design.
- Understanding of RF layout techniques from HF to X-Band.
- Understanding of EMI analysis and mitigation techniques.
- Propensity for learning through self-study and being comfortable in a multi-tasking environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of allocating and flowing down requirements from the system to the component level.
- Experience designing RF/Microwave MMIC circuits, modules or test fixtures.
- Experience with GaAs and/or GaN MMIC devices.
- Experience with integrated circuit layout and physical verification using Cadence Virtuoso software tools.
- Familiarity with semiconductor processing and concepts, e.g. technologies like GaAs, GaN, SOI.
- Strong academic background that includes courses in: Microwave Engineering, Microwave Systems, Electromagnetic Theory and Radar Systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with microwave testing techniques, including using spectrum analyzers, Real-time Spectrum Analyzers (RSAs), Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs) and Performance Network Analyzer (PNAs).
- Experience in technical writing, proposal writing, and oral presentations.
