About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and integrate Collins products within the communication systems and test solutions in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Develop both engineering and production test systems, test interface adapters, cabling, technical drawings, schematics, circuit designs, and analysis.
  • Contribute to the completion of all stages of communication system and test system development.
  • Assist managing technical, cost, and schedule aspects of assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to develop proven hardware designs that meet system performance and operational specifications.
  • Perform circuit design lifecycle activities, including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, circuit design analysis like Performance, Stability, ESD/Lightning, Decoupling and Signal/Power Integrity analysis, creation of board stack-up and routing instructions, coordination and review of printed wiring board layout, creation of test plans, root cause analysis, and integration.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 2 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing electric and electronic circuits and systems for communication systems.
  • Strong knowledge of digital electronics, testing, schematic capture, circuit design, and hardware selection and integration.
  • Experience with commonly used test equipment, including Logic Analyzers, Computer Interface Adapters (JTAG, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, etc), RF Test Equipment, Power Supplies, Digital Multi-Meters, Oscilloscopes.
  • Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting circuit card assemblies and performing design verification activities.
  • Experience with signal integrity and timing analysis for creating robust designs.
  • FPGA/SoC design and testing knowledge.
  • Experience with electrical engineering design and analysis tools, including NX ECAD design, Siemens DX Designer and Expedition formerly known as Mentor Graphics, Creo MBSE Schematic, Altium PCB Layout, Cadence Allegro, Eagle, KiCAD.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, including planning, tracking, and managing hardware development tasks in Jira.
