About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyzing engineering software and/or firmware in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, and other relevant standards.
- Working with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code.
- Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through deployment to gain concurrence with software builds.
- Assisting with Software and/or Firmware analyses.
- Participating in the execution of the Software System Safety Program.
- Interfacing with various stakeholders, including customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Assisting with the preparation of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval.
- Assisting with software safety technical reviews.
- Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
- Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of product architecture and design.
- Executing the safety strategy for the program to meet all its milestones with system safety/HSI features integrated into the product in compliance with contract and awarded funding.
- Supporting the program schedule and integrated system safety tasks and activities into program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
Requirements
What you’ll need- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience with risk assessment concepts, such as those in MIL-STD 882E.
- Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
- Experience performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management, analysis, evaluation, and verification.
- Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program.
- Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations.
- Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines.
- Experience interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering.
- Experience managing Working Groups.
- Active Secret U.S. government issued security clearance.
