About the role

  • The Section Leader performs management activities and provides leadership for a dispersed team of approximately 10-15 software engineers.
  • These activities include technical development of people, providing and identifying appropriate training for people, and performance management.
  • You will team with the Department Leader in the rollout and adherence to organizational policies, goals, and initiatives.
  • You will ensure two-way communication for the section members; serve as the day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning employee job assignments, performance, and recognition.
  • Responsibilities also include coordinating program staffing needs and reductions, and interviewing applicants.
  • Able to lead and participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of application software, and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems.
  • Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
  • Lead and participate in internal review of software components and systems.
  • Collaborate with leaders and other professionals within Engineering.
  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.

Requirements

  • Experience in the integration of separate software components into a single system
  • Experience with Linux and Windows system administration including installing and configuring systems from the OS level up.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation, and the desire to learn new technologies and tools.
  • Demonstrated success in agile development and prior leadership roles, such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Task Leader.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
