About the role
- Primary Design Quality Focal Point for the devices assigned.
- Assure new developments meet customer, company, DO-178, and regulatory requirements as applicable.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) review of development artifacts.
- Throughout the development lifecycle mentor engineering teams regarding process, Quality, and regulatory requirements in order to ensure problem-free product and artifact deliveries.
- Ensure robust design through assisting engineering in the use of appropriate tools and practices.
- Proactively assess development projects on an ongoing basis to determine "health" of the project via process and work product assessment/audit using the appropriate tool sets.
- Ensure engineering efforts are performed effectively and aligned with Collins & customer's quality expectations
- Employ Quality-related tools such as Root Cause Analysis, Variation Reduction, Key Characteristics, etc. as appropriate.
- Analyze project data for trends and systemic issues - recommend corrective action.
- Assist transition to production ensuring D&D related quality issues are resolved
- Ensure effective and appropriate project process tailoring and approvals
- OTJ mentor/trainer of process for teams
- Ensure plans account for lessons learned
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Demonstrated experience with software development and the associated processes.
- Solid understanding and experience in the engineering development lifecycle with emphasis on design quality aspects is critical for success.
- Working knowledge of the aerospace industry, manufacturing, and system development and the associated processes.
- Previous software quality assurance experience.
