About the role
- Work with vendors to optimize generator systems based on system and customer requirements.
- Provide support for legacy generator systems.
- Work closely with a team of engineers and vendors to develop designs based on system performance and operational specifications.
- Analyze, simulate, test, and document power generation and conversion (and related analog) circuitry.
- Work to further our department’s mastery of power generation and help develop related best practices.
- Resolve production and obsolescence issues related to existing generator product designs.
- Support both in-field and reach-back troubleshooting, subsystem/component/benchtop repairs & regression testing.
- Instrument and collect measurements on equipment (voltage, current, temperature) using electronic test and data acquisition equipment.
- Present reviews of technical data to program leadership, technical staff, and customer community.
- Manage related risk discussions.
- Lead small teams to success with schedule, budget, and technical execution.
- Engage in personal technical growth and facilitate technical growth in peers and junior engineers.
- Help to understand what opportunities are needed to mature the organization on the technical front.
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years’ of prior relevant experience.
- 8+ years of experience in power generation, power system design, power conversion, power distribution, power sub-system design and/or control systems.
- Experience in modeling and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink or similar modeling tools.
- Experience with safety issues related to working with and servicing rotating electromechanical systems and high voltage systems greater than 500VAC.
