About the role
- Perform structural analysis of conventional & additively manufactured complex aerospace components including static, dynamic, thermal (steady state & transient), fatigue life, fracture mechanics (residual life) predictions and damage tolerance analyses
- Provide documentation of analyses results and recommendations in the form of formal reports and presentations for management and customers
- Assist in creating test plans and support validation and verification testing of components for thermal and dynamic performance and behavior
- Use this information to calibrate and improve the analytical methods
- Participate in cross-discipline integrated product team as structures focal to provide design recommendations and solutions to develop products that meet technical, weight and cost targets
- Continuously pursue ways to develop, improve, and validate analytical methods and processes to improve productivity and cost effectiveness
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Experience with finite element modeling tools such as Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran or equivalent
- Experience in fracture mechanics and NASGRO or equivalent tool is a plus
- Possess experience in 2D and 3D CAD tools including, UG NX, CATIA or equivalent
- Experience in dynamic/vibration analysis and testing
