About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and execute strategies to increase sales premium, case count, retention, and profitability
- Develop brokers within the assigned sales territory
- Identify market potential, prioritize opportunities, and develop territory sales strategies
- Prepare and present product recommendations and solutions to brokers and clients
- Cross-sell products to existing customers and new prospects
- Send applications and related materials to prospects and follow up to generate and close sales
- Represent Group Products, Absence Solutions, and Voluntary Portfolio products
- Provide guidance on elevated service concerns to policyholders and brokers
- Record lead information, call activity, follow-up, and opportunities in the company CRM
- Analyze and submit sales and production reports to leadership
- Implement new cases and resolve customer concerns with field and home office staff
- Partner with underwriting to ensure profitable business
- Drive company culture within local sales offices
- Manage team performance, talent development, hiring, discipline, transfers, advancement, and promotions
- Lead and participate in initiatives supporting RSL’s Service Excellence vision
- Assist Sales Representatives in achieving line-of-business sales goals
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Minimum of 5 years of group insurance sales experience
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience
- Group Life and Health License(s) required
- AHIP, LOMA, and/or CEBS preferred
- Ability to demonstrate objectivity and sound management principles
- Ability to solve policy owner and broker problems
- Ability to speak effectively in public and develop audience-appropriate presentations
- Ability to make independent decisions aligned with company and departmental objectives
- Ability to influence decision makers and travel nationally with limited notice
- Ability to negotiate difficult business situations skillfully and respectfully
- Strong knowledge of group products, claim practices/processes, administrative procedures, services, contract language, and provisions
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, collaborative, and frequently changing sales environment
- Strong organization, follow-up, and prioritization skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement in service delivery
- Excellent people skills and ability to build strong relationships with departments and vendors
- Collaborative and able to influence without direct management control
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to travel up to 50%
