About the role
- Reconcile aged receivable accounts to determine outstanding balance causes.
- Contact insurance companies to resolve outstanding claim balances and obtain pertinent information.
- Resubmit reprints, rebills, and/or appeals to insurance for processing.
- Submit contractual adjustments, write-offs, or patient responsibility closures as appropriate.
- Close out remaining balances to patient responsibility when required.
- Meet and/or exceed production standards and monthly revenue/billing goals.
- Follow client-specific processes and maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- May require some reimbursable travel.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong communication skills.
- Medical terminology knowledge.
- Insurance contract experience.
- Medical billing/claim generation experience.
- Understanding of UB04 and HCFA1500 forms.
- Strong mathematics.
- Basic Microsoft Office knowledge.
- Ability to multitask.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Experience in Cerner billing system a plus.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow client-specific processes and procedures.
- Ability to handle multiple computer systems at one time.
- Creative talk-offs, negotiation skills, and proper follow-up habits.
- Compliance with HIPAA, FCRA, FDCPA and other applicable laws and regulations.
- Dependable with effective listening skills.
- Ability to properly handle highly confidential information.
- Occasional ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds; close vision and ability to adjust focus.
