About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage a team of direct reports within the IT Engineering division.
Collaborate with executive leadership on datacenter lifecycles and contract renewals.
Oversee and prioritize technical project execution.
Establish goals and priorities for staff consistent with departmental objectives.
Ensure deliverables are on target with goals.
May be responsible for team formations and associated assignments.
Develop processes for management reports, statistics, and performance measures.
Establish an environment where staff learns to be self-sufficient and competent.
Coach and monitor staff in continuous performance improvement and development.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related discipline, or equivalent professional work experience.
Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering or cloud operations.
Proven track record of supervising technical staff or complex cross-datacenter infrastructure roadmaps.
Must demonstrate recent, proven experience heavily balancing daily management duties with direct, hands-on technical execution.
Prior formal experience as a fully hands-on engineering manager, team lead, or senior technical authority.
Extensive hands-on experience engineering, maintaining, and actively configuring Ubuntu environments, Puppet automation platforms, and bare-metal orchestration tools (MAAS).
Hands-on background executing datacenter footprint migrations, handling hardware procurement, and directly engineering/managing virtualization boundaries (including OpenStack, LXD, KVM, and ESXi lifecycles).
Strong hands-on knowledge of Active Directory management, enterprise certificate enrollment processes, identity tooling, and maintaining critical trust layers across corporate domain controllers.
Deep, hands-on familiarity with the intricacies of CEPH architecture and administration for long-term persistent storage.
Technical proficiency evaluating, planning, and actively managing physical/SAN storage equipment, such as PureStorage or enterprise S3-compatible targets.
Hands-on experience or familiarity with MicroCloud deployment/management frameworks.
Must be able to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutions.
Requires excellent communication skills with the ability to state messages clearly by using language that is easy for others to understand.
