About the role
- Provides Human Resources support and guidance to an assigned location or specific business unit function, often being the only onsite member of the Human Resources Team. Ensures effective employee relations, compensation, staffing, organizational development, training, safety, and change management strategies. Fosters employee involvement at all levels with the use of excellent communication, organization, facilitation, and creative problem-solving skills. Job Description Partners with local leadership teams to develop and facilitate strategic short and long-term goals for assigned locations as they relate to the employment function (i.e. recruiting, screening, coordination of staffing plans, promotions, training, succession planning, and positive counseling), and profitability. Facilitates and fosters positive employee relations, plant-wide effective communications, and internal management consultation. Ensures legal compliance and implementation of the Company’s human resources strategy. Ensures management practices are consistent with all federal, state, and local employment laws, rules, and regulations. Effectively support and foster the company’s Open Door Policy. Administer the employment function, which includes recruiting and screening applicants, facilitating the use of any temporary employment agencies, and managing the job posting system for internal/external candidates following company and legal guidelines. Assist in the effective and proactive management of the requirements and functions related to the Affirmative Action Plan for the assigned location. Assist in managing Worker’s Compensation Insurance issues, including making recommendations to facilitate the timely closing of claims. Coordinate, facilitate, and/or assist with training activities within the facility (i.e. safety compliance, orientation programs, job knowledge, and leadership performances). Provide prompt and accurate guidance to employees regarding all benefit programs including timely orientation programs. Maintain all personnel records following EEO, privacy, and related requirements. Advise management teams regarding prompt and accurate completion of all status changes and ensure prompt and accurate updated information in the HRIS system. Promote working together with all departments to build continual improvement within the company. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, supervisors, and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate HR Leadership. Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in discipline related to functional work
- Preferred High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 4 or more years of progressive work experience within the field of Human resources
- Solid fundamental knowledge of basic office programs (MS Office, Excel, Word) as well as the ability to learn and grasp multiple internal HRIS and other core systems
- Working knowledge in all areas pertinent to the management of all HR functions including compensation, staffing, recruiting, employee involvement, EEO/AAP, safety training, and policy development
- Current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and general employment laws
- Ability to communicate with all levels of employees effectively
- Ability to contribute leadership and creative thinking to collaboratively solving complex and significant problems
- Able to mentor junior-level team members in the use of tools and/or systems in the position
- SHRM and/or HRCI Certification preferred
