About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Act as a point of contact for the RSC's Chemists' Community Fund services
- Respond to initial enquiries and provide information, advice and guidance to members
- Ensure service delivery aligns with national information, advice and guidance standards
- Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of major state benefits and assistance from local government and charitable organisations
- Undertake online calls and occasional home visits with members and beneficiaries
- Gather information to assess potential areas of need accurately
- Support the Chemists' Community Fund Committee
- Prepare and justify grant recommendations and concise briefing information for approvers
- Develop external relations with member-groups, employers, university welfare officers, charities and related organisations
- Support team administration duties
- Maintain confidentiality and protect personal data handled by the Fund
- Assist Fund Managers with key projects
- Contribute to other activities as required by the Fund Managers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience managing casework
- Ability to handle sensitive phone calls, emails and issues with tact, diplomacy and empathy
- Ability to relate to people experiencing difficult personal circumstances
- Articulate communicator with experience in a customer-focused environment
- Ability to distinguish information essential to case development from peripheral information
- Ability to influence effectively and form productive relationships with internal colleagues and external contacts
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Up-to-date knowledge of data protection and confidentiality practices
- Forward-thinking, empathetic approach to casework and services
- Ability to undertake administration duties and project management when required
- Relevant DBS check required
- Up-to-date CV and cover letter of no more than 500 words required for application
