Contribute to RSB’s Advisory Services Projects including operational, administrative, engagement and content development activities
Support implementation of project work packages on sustainability of alternative feedstocks and sustainable processing of alternative materials
Conduct literature reviews and benchmarks about existing sustainability standards, policies and guidance, focused on defining sustainability of alternative materials with a focus on alternative plastics
Research feedstock selection and responsible sourcing of alternative materials
Assess material design tradeoffs with other environmental and social impacts and local context across countries
Identify best practices for stakeholder and community engagement and maintain stakeholder engagement records
Conduct interviews with experts to validate assumptions
Use RSB tools to assess environmental and social risks
Develop practical guides based on research findings
Organise online project meetings, workshops and stakeholder events
Write project reports and slide decks for workshops and events
Develop training and e-learning content for diverse audiences
Perform knowledge gap analysis
Support analysis of policy and regulatory drivers influencing uptake of alternative materials and sustainable packaging
Contribute to advisory projects including feedstock sustainability assessments, techno-economic assessments, GHG calculations and LCA analyses, standards development, benchmarks and training activities
Requirements
Based in Spain, Germany, or the UK
Between 4 – 6 years of professional experience in sustainability roles, related to chemistry, materials, plastics, and/or bioplastics sectors
Experience in related industries (e.g. packaging, food and beverage, textile, etc.) and/or consultancy
Experience with sustainability certification, environmental and social assessments (advantage)
Experience in the circular economy field and conducting environmental assessments (LCA/GHG) (advantage)
Strong experience writing research papers and reports
Experience in data analysis
Proven project management skills
Excellent spoken and written English
Degree in a relevant field (e.g., chemical engineering, materials engineering, sustainability, environmental management)
Confidence and ability to communicate effectively with companies, governmental institutions, non-profit agencies, academia, and other experts on a global scale
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Valid work permit for Spain, Germany, or the UK (no visa sponsorship)
Willingness to travel as required by the job
