About the role
- Responsible for all aspects of accommodating crew movement based on operational needs.
- Performs failure analysis, problem resolution and process optimization to ensure crew travel continuously evolves to meet quality and efficiency expectations.
- Full understanding of marine airline contracts, as it pertains to pricing, routing, ticketing time limits, and penalty fees.
- Analyzes and determines best itineraries and fares while remaining within travel policy.
- Exercises independent judgment to optimize routing and cost avoidance decisions.
- Assists crewmembers with itineraries by monitoring flight irregularities while in route to/from ship.
- Independently researches and resolves situations requiring extensive oversight and diligence for the complicated roles and routing of the itineraries.
- Manage and update internal customers’ travel preferences as to customize their business and leisure travel.
- Includes serving as travel agent to senior level shipboard employees’ booking air, car, hotel, personal and family travel.
- Book and ticket travel requests from E1 and maintain the metric levels required.
- Performs failure analysis and independently executes problem resolution as a result of monitoring and correcting errors that may cause exceptions with data integrity of the application and profile of the customers.
- Oversee refunds, cancellations, schedule changes and queues.
- Manage costs and related decisions, remaining within company guidelines, while providing accommodation to all crew members traveling on duty or personal travel.
- Re-shop booked and ticketed itineraries, seeking continuous savings potential for the PNR and customer satisfaction.
- Provide solutions for customers travel concerns.
- Is the liaison between the company and airlines.
Requirements
- BS degree from an accredited college/university in a related field and/or previous directly related professional level experience in one or more of the following functions: workforce scheduling, logistics services, travel.
- Minimum 5 years travel agency or industry experience.
- Must have airline systems experience, specifically Sabre, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and AS/400.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed is required.
- Extensive knowledge of geography to fulfill intricate international itineraries.
- Demonstrated ability to manage travel policy.
- Excellent skills in the following areas: follow-up, organization, analytical, flexibility, customer service, negotiating.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to include both verbal and written.
- Team player with the desire and capability to step in as needed to ensure the achievement of the department’s goals.
- Understanding of all airline contracts including AirSea fares and marine contracted fares.
- Extensive knowledge and applicability of international visa requirements.
- Must be detail oriented and possess problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, self-motivated, think outside the box, and demonstrate strategic problem-solving skills.
