About the role
- Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment (pumps, motors, conveyors, HVAC, etc.).
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update the CAFM System.
- Assist in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Support installation of new equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with other departments to plan maintenance schedules and minimize production impact.
- Recommend improvements for equipment reliability and energy efficiency.
- Carry out routine and reactive maintenance on plumbing systems (hot and cold water, drainage, sanitary ware).
- Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies and perform fault-finding and repair.
- Install new plumbing systems and modify existing systems in line with design and compliance standards.
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) as per the maintenance schedule.
- Ensure all work is carried out to statutory regulations, health and safety standards, and best practices.
- Ability to assess and complete dynamic risk assessments for all work.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and FM team members.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including job sheets and asset records.
- Support the facilities team during audits and inspections.
- Order and manage stock of plumbing materials and equipment.
- Be part of an on-call Rota to attend and complete emergency out of hours call outs.
Requirements
- Degree or HNC/HND advantageous in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with CAFM systems and maintenance best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Understanding safety standards (e.g., PUWER, LOLER).
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing and Heating (or equivalent).
- City & Guilds in Plumbing or Building Services Engineering (desirable).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in facilities management or building services.
- Sound knowledge of building regulations, water regulations, and health and safety.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Full UK driving license.
