About the role

  • Provide technical leadership and governance for all rail communications systems (including TETRA, Backbone Transmission, WiMAX, Fibre, Radio, Cloud Infrastructure)
  • Develop and maintain architecture, standards, and technology roadmaps for communications infrastructure.
  • Lead the assessment, selection, and integration of new communications technologies and solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with cyber security, safety, and regulatory requirements in communications design and operation.
  • Offer expert advice, oversight, and support for projects, operations, maintenance, and complex problem resolution.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of secure network systems, including local (LAN), wide-area (WAN), data centre, and cloud infrastructure
  • Lead asset management, obsolescence, and spares management for rail communications and infrastructure systems.
  • Prepare monthly reporting on asset performance, risks, and improvement initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with vendors (OEMs) to ensure service quality and value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Networking and Telecommunications Engineering with demonstrated combination of training and experience in Rail Communications.
  • Extensive experience in Rail Communications
  • In-depth knowledge of rail communications systems, including TETRA, backbone transmission, WiMAX, fibre optics, and radio networks.
  • Experience in the design, routing, switching, implementation, asset management and maintenance of large-scale communications infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles as they apply to communications systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in communications networks.
  • Operational experience in managing vital/non-vital/aggregation network for rail signalling and communication systems such as train control systems, wayside signalling, and asset protection systems
  • Familiarity with communications/network management software and tools.
