About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Join the Recommendations team matching pet parents with suitable care providers
Partner with senior engineers to break down requirements
Build backend and frontend features and take them through launch
Improve and maintain the Elasticsearch search platform
Increase match personalization and pet parent confidence through information collection and playback initiatives
Provide engineering support to Data Science on search algorithms and ML models
Collaborate with analysts, designers, and data scientists to create, test, and release marketplace features
Contribute to scalable, supportable, high-quality software
Apply automated testing, continuous deployment, monitoring, and anomaly detection practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

1-4 years as a professional software developer
Graduation from a formal computer science or engineering program
Experience utilizing AI tools to drive both technical and non-technical workflows
A solid foundation in professional software development practices and system design
Strong communication and consensus-building around technical approaches
High standards for code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices
Experience with Python/Django, Elasticsearch, React, or React Native is a plus
Experience in search or two-sided marketplaces is a plus
Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without current or future employer sponsorship for an employment-based visa status
Must be based in the Greater Seattle Area
