About the role

  • Work closely with our cyber risk, AI governance and compliance domain experts to ensure data acquisition and processing complies with all relevant regulations and ethical guidelines.
  • Focus on acquiring high-quality data suitable for training AI/ML models while maintaining data privacy and security.
  • Design and develop robust and scalable data pipelines using a variety of technologies, including AWS, Azure, and cloud-native services.
  • Develop and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and other data storage solutions, leveraging open-source solutions where feasible.
  • Build and optimise ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
  • Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to support model development and deployment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance and security best practices.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data engineering technologies and best practices.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and contribute to team growth.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or a similar role.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) and cloud-native services (e.g., AWS Glue, EMR, Redshift, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Snowflake).
  • Expertise in SQL, Python, and other relevant programming languages.
  • Experience with data warehousing and data lake architectures.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools and technologies.
  • Experience with data quality and data validation techniques.
  • Experience working with AI/ML teams and supporting model development.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy and security regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, NSCS, HIPAA) and ethical considerations in AI/ML.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment, ideally in a highly regulated industry (e.g., healthcare, finance) in the US.
